The Security Council calls on Lebanon and Israel to respect the Blue Line
members of the Security Council of the United Nations expressed “deep concern” over the exchange of fire between the LAF and the IDF along the Blue Line in southern Lebanon in the area of Yaroun February 7, 2007, according to a press release from the Council.
“The Council looks forward to the Interim Force in Lebanon United Nations (UNIFIL) to establish all the facts with certainty,” said Council members by its president for the month of February, Ambassador Slovakia Peter Burian, following a report in closed session of the Operations Department of Peacekeeping.
The Security Council urged all parties to respect the Blue Line along its entire length, to exercise utmost restraint and to refrain from “any act that might aggravate the situation.”
