China: 7 dead and 8 injured in explosion at coal mine in Liaoning
7 miners were killed and 8 others wounded in a gas blast occurred Thursday afternoon in a coal mine in Liaoning Province (northeast China), announced Friday the local authorities.
The explosion occurred around 13:40, in the coal mine Qiupigou the city of Huludao, when 15 miners were working underground, the source said.
Among the 8 injured, 4 seriously injured are still hospitalized, while 4 others have already left the hospital after receiving medical care.
The coal mine is a mine Qiupigou low concentration firedamp built in 1958 with a production capacity of 500 000 t per year.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
