Patrick Ollier elected President of the French National Assembly
The member of the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP, in power) Patrick Ollier was Wednesday elected president of the National Assembly of France.
Mr. Ollier was born in 1944 in Perigueux, in southern France, is a current member of the Hauts-de-Seine, and president of the Committee on Economic Affairs, Environment and Territory of the National Assembly.
It was designated in the morning by the UMP to succeed Jean-Louis Debré, recently appointed President of the Constitutional Council. He will perform his duties until June 19 before the formation of a new National Assembly after legislative elections this year.
Mr. Ollier was joint Michele Alliot-Marie, current Minister of Defense.
