The US-DPRK meeting in Berlin throw “solid foundation” for the six-party talks
A senior U.S. official said Monday that the meeting between representatives of the United States and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Berlin last week laid “solid foundation” for future six-party talks to make progress.
It’s “good consultations”, said the spokesman of the State Department Sean McCormack said at a news briefing.
The United States wants to achieve concrete progress in the next round of six-party talks, McCormack said.
The Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill, who spoke with the representative in Pyongyang, Kim Kye-gwan had met in Berlin from January 16 to 18, had qulifié discussions “productive and useful”.
The six parties involved in negotiations on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue are China, the DPRK, the United States, South Korea, Japan and Russia.
